B.A.U.M. e.V. (Bundesdeutscher Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management) is the leading corporate network for sustainable management in Germany. For over 40 years, B.A.U.M. has been combining entrepreneurial practice with ecological and social responsibility – through knowledge transfer, transformation dialogues, practical guidelines and innovative impulses for sustainability and future viability.

ISTE is a member of B.A.U.M. because we believe that change can only succeed in a strong network. The partnership gives us direct access to best practices, expert knowledge and strategic visions for the future. This benefits our customers in particular: They receive faster orientation in the complex sustainability environment, access to concrete tools and funding programmes – and strong impetus for transformation with impact.

The co-do! lab is a do-tank and social business that guides companies, cities and civil society through their sustainability transformation in a practical way. From strategy development and futures visioning to prototyping transformation labs, it offers modular formats such as ‘Hello Transformation!’, in which teams test ideas, build skills and realise scalable solutions.

Getting people into action – that is the common goal that unites co-do! lab and ISTE. To this end, ISTE trains information and communication technology specialists on sustainable topics relating to programming, data management, artificial intelligence and hardware, for example. In combination with the ‘Hello Transformation!’ workshop series, we create the basis for identifying fields of action and concrete measures by rethinking sustainability knowledge with a perspective on human attitude, experience-oriented learning and scaling in organisations. The result is an effective programme that appeals to head, heart and hand in equal measure – for sustainable management within planetary boundaries.

X-Creation is a co-creation innovation platform initiated by T-Systems/Deutsche Telekom that connects companies, NGOs and experts in order to solve complex challenges faster. It brings together organisations with different areas of expertise and curates both problems and solutions. The challenge teams receive a structured methodology and suitable event formats to work efficiently on solutions. At the same time, the network is expanded through partners and customers to ensure the implementation of innovations.

ISTE itself emerged from an X-Creation Challenge – driven by the idea of combining technology, sustainability and education in a new way. Today, we continue to be actively involved in the network, including in the challenges ‘Unlocking the Twin Transformation with AI’, ‘AI for All: A Framework for Workforce-Wide Adoption’ and ‘Scaling Media Competence to Safeguard Democracy’. Together, we are designing solutions that do not get stuck in the conceptual realm, but enable people, companies and regions to implement transformation in concrete terms.

T-Systems International is the B2B digital unit of Deutsche Telekom and one of Europe’s leading providers of digital services and IT infrastructure solutions. With around 27,000 employees worldwide, T-Systems supports companies, public authorities and organisations in their digital transformation – from cloud and cybersecurity solutions to data analytics, AI and platform services. Particularly strong: the combination of technological excellence with sustainability goals – for example through green IT strategies, circular solutions and responsible digitalisation.

ISTE works together with T-Systems because we pursue the same goal: Not only to think transformation, but to implement it consistently – digitally, sustainably and with social impact. Originating from a joint X-Creation Challenge, we now act as partners in innovation projects, sustainability education and the testing of new technologies in practice. One key result: the jointly developed Green IT course, which teaches the basics of sustainable software development, energy-efficient infrastructure, green AI and resource-saving hardware – compact, practical and accessible for interdisciplinary teams. For our customers, this results in genuine co-creation spaces in which technology, education and sustainability do not stand side by side – but work together.

WhatzLearn and WhatzIndustry stand for a holistic understanding of learning in change: People. Process. Technology. – that is the triad in which modern transformation succeeds. With adaptive learning paths, smart technologies and a deep understanding of operational processes, they create scalable training opportunities that anchor knowledge where it is needed: in the process, in the team, in the organisation.

ISTE provides the content – from green IT to sustainable AI. WhatzLearn provides options for platforms that make learning processes visible, controllable and efficient. Together, we ensure that training not only imparts knowledge, but also has a tangible effect on processes, efficiency and impact. r3.0 – redesign for resilience and regeneration – develops the frameworks that business and society need to operate within planetary boundaries. With the Sustainable Development Performance Indicators (SDPI) – developed together with UNRISD – r3.0 creates the basis for context-based economic activity: Not more or less sustainability, but just as much as necessary.
